West Highland Way, Scotland
Walking the West Highland Way is a once in a lifetime walk and is one of the most beautiful hiking routes in the world. Walking through the Highlands of Scotland, along Britain's largest freshwater lake, Loch Lomond, across the plains of Rannoch Moor and over the Devils staircase to Fort William in eight hikking days. Along the way you will taste various typical Scottish dishes such as Scottish salmon and Haggis, visit the Glengoyne distillery for a tour and you can taste the delicious whiskey. Swimming in Loch Lomond, washing in the stream during a wild camping night, walking past abandoned Scottish farms. We have already hiked the route more than 10 times and know exactly the way. In addition, a delicious extensive breakfast is available every day and we prepare the most delicious dishes in the evening. Are you going on an adventure?

We meet at the train station in Milngavie. Your luggage will be transported from here by us and you can walk light. We start with a cup of coffee/tea in Milngavie where we can get to know each other a bit and where we hold the first briefing. You will also receive the official West Highland Way stamp card from us here. Along the way in pubs and at campsites we can ask for stamps, and so you have a nice memory. Around 11:00 we start the walk.
Today's route is with little elevation. A lovely walk to get into the swing of things. You walk to Drymen where we spend the first night at the campsite. Here we are at a small campsite with basic sanitary facilities with shower and a beautiful view over the Lowlands. Every evening we will tell you about the next day so that you know what to expect.

How do you get there?
Flying to Glasgow.
From Schiphol there are several flights to Glasgow. You can choose to take the flight early in the morning and then you are about 1.5 hours away by train. You can also go to Glasgow a day earlier so that you can still explore the city. There are many nice shops, pubs and things to visit. We have a passenger bus and can therefore also pick you up in Glasgow. (at €25,- pp)
By boat from
Ymuiden to Newcastle.
You can do this by car so that you can explore Scotland further before or after the West Highland Way. You can also walk by boat. You then take the train from Newcastle to Milngavie in about 3.5 hours. The boat usually leaves in the evening from IJmuiden and you arrive in Newcastle around 9:15. If you have any questions about your trip, we are happy to help you.
Return journey from Fort Wiliam
From the end of the West Highland Way, a bus goes directly to Glasgow and from there to the airport. It is best to reserve a seat on the bus at home. Our travel letter, which you will receive after booking, explains how to do this. It is also very nice to explore Scotland further and add a few days to your trip yourself.
